Hi! My name is Alicia Landa and I’m currently a Computer Science: Game Design major at UC Santa Cruz.
My freshman year I became a member of GDA, Game Design and Art Collaboration. A student organization that in 16 weeks works to create a game. I contributed to their latest game, Malisense as a writing producer. (Check out here) In addition, I’ve been taking art classes since I was five years old. I enjoy drawing, sculpting, writing, sewing, coding, and graphic design. I’ve worked as a graphic designer for multiple youth nonprofit organizations. I was also the Chief Creative Officer of CreAItivity. I have designed a collection and walked on the runway in my high school fashion twice.
The last few summers, I’ve hosted an online coding camp, teaching young minds the basic concepts of coding and the importance of creativity in coding. I also presented at my local elementary school teaching the kids what STEM is, careers, importance of art, and people who overcame gaps in STEM. My goal is to create my own game, writing the storyline, designing the characters, and coding the game. I want to create more diverse games with more characters representing women of color and members of the LGBTQIA+ community.
